Scott McTominay could stay at Manchester United and sign a new contract.

It has been less than a year since it looked like United would listen to offers for Scotland international McTominay. A move never materialised and our midfield/forward hybrid has proved to be an important member of Erik ten Hag’s squad.

McTominay has scored nine goals in all competitions and many of those clubs came at times when United needed it most. His last successful strike came in the 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup last weekend.

According to the Daily Star, United’s new hierarchy is convinced McTominay has a vital role to play in the club’s future and they want to offer him a longer contract with a pay rise.

The 27-year-old has 15 months to run on his current deal — £60,000 p/w – and the club have an option to extend that by another 12 months.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos Sports group are impressed by MxTominay’s performances and his exemplary attitude off the pitch.

The report states McTominay can expect to double his money to £120,000 p/w when the new deal arrives.
