Since the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s departure at the end of the season, Bayern Munich has been looking to find his successor. Among the favorites to take over from the former Chelsea and PSG coach was the name of Sebastian Hoeneß. Nephew of the honorary president of the Munich team Uli Hoeneß, the German coach has had a sensational season with VfB Stuttgart and had already shown great things during his stints at Hoffenheim as well as with the young players of the Rekordmeister. However, an arrival this summer in Bavaria cannot be ruled out because the 41-year-old technician has extended the adventure with the Swabians until 2027.

“Sebastian Hoeneß and VfB make a great match. Sebastian wore the jersey with the red ring on the chest as a youth player, and his connection to the club and the people of the region is clearly felt. Sebastian joined VfB at the end of last season, when the sporting outlook was anything but rosy. He believed in the potential of the team and the entire club and put things on the right track with great commitment. As a committed team player, he embodies humility and loyalty, while being extremely ambitious and motivated to constantly develop our players and the team. From our point of view, early contract extensions with Sebastian Hoeneß and his assistant coach David Krecidlo are absolutely the right and logical step. We are pleased to have completed these important personnel changes to the satisfaction of everyone involved and we can now approach the final ten games of the season with added energy.”, said VfB President Alexander Wehrle via an official statement. One less target for Bayern Munich.
