Selena Gomez Talks Possibility of Selling Her Company Rare Beauty

Selena Gomez is opening up about the potential of selling off her company Rare Beauty.

The 31-year-old entertainer’s beauty company is more of a passion project, coinciding with the Rare Impact Fund, which is part of her commitment to addressing mental health and self-acceptance.

While speaking with TIME, Selena noted that she focuses more on the product development and the impact fund, while she leaves the business aspect to others.

“I will admit it overwhelms me sometimes. I have this weird thing in my head where if I focus on the numbers, I’ll lose whatever it is that made Rare Beauty, Rare Beauty,” she told the mag for the 100 Most Influential Companies issue. “I never wanted it to be about making a lot of money and that’s it.”

There were rumors earlier this year that Selena brought on financial advisors for a potential sale or IPO, but she quickly shut down those rumors.

“I don’t have any plans on that, genuinely,” she says. Selena adds that she’s working on new products for the next few years!

She also adds that it means a lot to her for people to love the products for the products and just because she’s the one behind them.

“That’s what makes me most proud,” Selena said. “When I’m able to have something like Rare or a single that people can relate to, I get so much joy when people say, ‘Hey, that helped me through a difficult time.’”

If you missed it, in the same interview feature, Selena also opened up about having plans to adopt and addressed her boyfriend’s recent marriage and kids comments.
