Senior Bayern stars want club to make a decision that will seriously affect Man United this summer

Man United are set for one of their most significant post-season periods in many a year.

Not only is Sir Jim Ratcliffe likely to authorise a splash in the summer transfer market, but the future of manager, Erik ten Hag, is surely likely to be high on the agenda.

Indeed, the timing of the latter could well affect the former, given that players being courted by the Red Devils are likely to want to know the lie of the land in terms of the project before committing to it.

Thomas Tuchel could stay at Bayern

If it’s not to be the Dutchman in charge, whomever comes to Old Trafford in his stead will clearly have different ideas and that may or may not been to the liking of new signings or current first-team staff members.

One man that’s been heavily linked – by The Standard and other outlets – with taking over the post at United is former Chelsea manager, and current Bayern Munich chief, Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel to stay at Bayern?

Back in February of this year, it was announced that Tuchel would not be continuing at the club after this season and there would be a mutual parting of the ways.

However, as Abendzeitung report, a number of senior Bayern Munich players want the manager to stay at the club.

These include Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Eric Dier, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane.

It would take the Bayern board to swallow their pride in order for there to be any chance of a u-turn happening, with the outlet also quoting former player, Philipp Lahm, as suggesting that there needs to be more continuity at the Allianz Arena rather than a consistent churn of managers.

Bayern’s stadium also host next season’s Champions League final, so it’s clear that the club would love to be able to make it to the end of season showpiece, which they’d be more likely to do under their existing manager.

A new man bringing new ideas that take time to implement is likely to set the project back a little.
