Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen was the subject of a failed loan approach from Galatasaray this week.

While England’s transfer window slammed shut on February 1, Turkish clubs have until the end of this week to continue bolstering their squads for the second half of the campaign.

As such, Galatasaray had looked to try and test the Red Devils’ resolve with an offer for Eriksen, which was believed to be an initial loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

They were alerted by the 31-year-old’s reduced role under Erik ten Hag in recent months and were keen to bring him to Rams Park, where he would’ve played a Champions League tie back in November last year if he wasn’t injured.

However, United were seemingly uninterested in sanctioning a mid-season departure for such a key and experienced figure, as Sky Sports now reports that Eriksen will be staying at Old Trafford ‘until the summer’.

Eriksen could push for summer exit

It remains to be seen where his future lies beyond then; his contract runs until June 2025 but he has previously bemoaned his lack of playing time, having fallen out of favour in place of emerging starlet Kobbie Mainoo.

“Ask the manager why I’m starting on the bench, that’s out of my hands,” Eriksen told TNT Sports’ Fred Caldeira in October 2023. “Obviously I want to play as much as possible… obviously the manager is looking the other way.”

The Danish international was an unused substitute in United’s last two Premier League matches and he has made just nine starts in the top division this term.
