After two games lost to the wire against Naples (2-1) and Juventus (1-2), Salernitana welcomed an opponent more within their reach in the person of Genoa. The start of the match got off to a flying start for the bottom of the championship thanks to a goal from Augustin Martegani (2nd). The Argentinian served by former Lille player Domagoj Bradaric concluded a great collective action. But the joy was short-lived in Salerno who saw his opponent return very quickly through Mateo Retegui (13th).

The Genoese team even took the lead after leaving the locker room. Albert Gudmundsson scored his penalty (57th). His 4th goal in a month. Despite possession and 11 shots attempted, Antonio Candreva’s teammates suffered a third consecutive defeat in Serie A. Still last, they let Empoli, 3-0 winner of Monza, slip away in the afternoon. For its part, Genoa continues its strong rise in the rankings. The Ligurians are now 11th.
