Hansi Flick maintained genuine faith in Ansu Fati ahead of the ongoing season and the patience he displayed with the youngster showed that he truly hoped to bring him back to the elite level.
Unfortunately for the player and the manager, however, it did not work out as Fati continues to struggle to even make a case for regular minutes.
In fact, he has been left out of the squad for Barcelona’s fourth successive match and all signs point to the fact that the manager no longer counts on him.
A poor situation
Earlier today, rumours floated that Como manager and Barcelona legend Cesc Fabregas wanted Ansu Fati in his team as he saw potential in the youngster and planned to use him going forward.
Speaking to the media earlier today, however, he blatantly denied any such idea and thus closed the door to Fati’s arrival.
“The links (of Como with Ansu) are not true. There is nothing at all,” he said, as relayed by SPORT.
Interestingly, Fati is not the only player Como were said to be interested in as the report also cited Eric Garcia as a target for them this winter. Fabregas, however, did not state anything on the defender.
Fati’s situation has only deteriorated over the months and it is now clear that he has no future at Barcelona.
The likes of Real Betis and Sevilla are said to be interested in signing him on a six-month loan and it remains to be seen if they pull the trigger.
Barcelona, for their part, are open to parting ways with him as they eye the arrival of Marcus Rashford on a six-month loan.
