Seth Rollins has been the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for many months now and this is just one of his many World Title reigns in WWE so far. Before WWE, he was a big name in the indies and this includes AAW. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Rollins sent a message to his former promotion.
The Visionary was a big name in the independent circuit, where he competed as Tyler Black in promotions such as ROH and more. Chicago-based independent promotion AAW posted a video on social media, where Seth Rollins congratulated the promotion on its 20th anniversary.
Seth Rollins expressed his disbelief at the 20-year milestone, noting he doesn’t feel that old and is currently in his prime. He stopped by to convey his gratitude and congratulations to AAW, emphasizing that he wouldn’t be where he is without the opportunities they provided as a young performer.
Rollins acknowledged AAW’s role in nurturing him, proudly declaring his connection as one of the first contributors to the company. He recognized the significance of 20 years in the independent wrestling world and credited the loyal fans in the mid-west as his bedrock. Rollins concluded with heartfelt thanks and love, wishing everyone a fantastic night and offering congratulations.
”Well well well, 20 years huh? That’s a long damn time. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years, I’m not that old. I’m better than I’ve ever been, but I wanted to stop by and say thank you, thank you and congratulations to AAW. First of all, thank you because I wouldn’t be where I am, who I am without AAW and the chance they took on me as a young performer, as a young man, really nurtured me. I’ve always been proud to wave the AAW banner, to be able to say that I was one of the first guys there, I laid the bedrock, all that good stuff. 20 years is a long time, especially in the independent world. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without the company and the loyal independent mid-west wrestling fans, you guys are my bedrock. Thank you so much for allowing me to be yours, I love you. Have a hell of a night, congratulations.”
In case you didn’t know, Seth Rollins competed in the company from 2006 to 2010, securing victories and claiming their Heavyweight and Tag Team Championships on two occasions.
AAW commemorates its 20th anniversary with LEGACY on Friday, February 23, broadcasting from the Berwyn Eagles Club in Berwyn, Illinois. Rollins will always be grateful for his time in the promotion and that’s all that matters.
