As Barcelona celebrate their return to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2020, they have been drawn against a challenging opponent in PSG in the round.

Indeed, Xavi Hernandez will go up against his former manager and mentor, Luis Enrique while Barça players will square off against ex-teammate Ousmane Dembele, who swapped teams last summer.

Barcelona and PSG have dished out some entertaining matches in the Champions League over the years and next month’s contests promise to be no different.

Seven players risking suspension

Even though the games are still a few weeks away, the anticipation is already building up and the matches will be hard-fought with players from both sides giving their all.

The first leg will take place at PSG’s home, Parc Des Princes, before they visit Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys for the return fixture.

Indeed, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Joao Felix, and Sergi Roberto are all suspension risks and will need to be disciplined and careful in the first leg.

All the aforementioned seven stars are currently on two yellow cards in the Champions League. Another booking would mean an automatic one-match ban, resulting in them missing the second leg in Montjuic.

Each of the players on the list is important for Xavi and Barcelona and not having any of them will be a matter of major concern.

As such, they must navigate the first leg in Paris with some degree of caution.
