SCO d’Angers, Le Havre and AJ Auxerre, to name but a few. These clubs are seeing one of their former members disappear (too soon).
This Monday, Cédric Daury died after a long illness, at the age of 54, in Tours. An iconic player for SCO d’Angers in the early 90s, then for Le Havre, this striker converted into a midfielder then became a coach, then sporting director of AJ Auxerre.
“I am very saddened by this terrible news.reacted Baptiste Malherbe, executive president and general director of the AJA. A competent, upright and humble man, Cédric was an example of courage and resilience.. I will remember his determination and his desire when he was recruited to the AJA in 2016 and his commitment to maintaining the AJA twice in difficult situations. My thoughts are with his family and his loved ones, who have the full support of the AJA in this painful ordeal.
Cédric Daury, a tribute planned for Abbé Deschamps
There have been many reactions on social media following this tragic news. “How sad to learn of his departure, Steve Savidan is moved on his Facebook page.
He who advised me and accompanied me so much during my career. A very beautiful person is leaving us.” The two men had played together in the colours of Châteauroux.
Cédric Daury began his coaching career at the latter club. He then moved to Le Havre and returned to Berry in 2015 before continuing his career as a technician at AJ Auxerre. A tribute will be paid to him on Sunday 18 August at the Abbé Deschamps, before the match against OGC Nice which will start at 3pm.
