While FC Sevilla is going through a difficult start to the season with a 14th place in the Liga standings and just five points on the scoreboard after five games, the Andalusian club could definitively lose one of its leaders, and sooner than expected. Tied for life to the Spanish team, Jesus Navas, who announced his international retirement this summer, is seriously considering hanging up his boots before the deadline he had set for himself, namely December 2024. On the circuit since 2003 and with more than 900 club appearances, the former Manchester City player, now 39, admits to going through a physical ordeal and has been suffering from chronic hip pain for many months.
“I want to retire in December, I hope, because of my hip arthritis. I hope I can hold out until December because every game is starting to be more difficult. I’ve been in this situation for four years. It’s a wear and tear, it’s becoming more and more significant, more and more continuous and intense. It’s complicated, when you finish a game, I couldn’t speak for two or three days, which is becoming complicated. For me, these six months have been a big challenge. I wanted to be with the team. I can’t take it anymore, it’s a health problem. There are days when I can’t be with my children“, said the 2024 European champion with La Roja, in comments relayed by The Sun.
