Since his departure from the Girondins de Bordeaux, Hwang Ui-jo has never managed to establish himself in his different teams. Less successful in recent years, the 31-year-old Korean international was at the heart of a sex tape blackmail from a member of his family. As told to us The Sun, the player, currently at Alanyaspor, allegedly filmed a sex tape with his ex-girlfriend without her consent. Hwang Ui-jo disputed the claim but his ex-sister-in-law posted private videos to blackmail him.

She has since been charged and has now been sentenced to three years in prison regretting her actions. In addition to the repercussions on his on-field performance, these allegations led to his suspension from the South Korean national team. The federation did not want their player to be selected until the matter was resolved.
