Sexyy Red was recently arrested for a minor offense.
On the May 28 episode of WWE NXT, rapper Sexyy Red announced that she’d serve as the special guest host of the 2024 NXT Battleground premium live event. Before making her way to Las Vegas for Battleground, Red was reportedly arrested in the Newark Liberty International Airport.
According to TMZ, Red, along with several others, were involved in a physical brawl at the respective airport on early Saturday morning. In newly released security footage, Red can be seen grasping a metal stand while a number of individuals fight beneath her. As the altercation shifted from a physical to a more verbal one, Red was pulled away toward one of the terminal doors. Minutes later, Red stormed back into the crowd.
Airport personnel made noticeable efforts to defuse the tensions before police finally arrived to make their formal arrests, one of which was Sexyy Red. While the motivation behind this brawl remains unclear, TMZ noted that Red was taken in for disorderly conduct. Some other participants were booked on assault charges.
Police released Red from custody shortly after, paving the way for her to later make her flight to Las Vegas — the site of Sunday night’s NXT Battleground event. In addition to her hosting duties, Red mingled with many NXT Superstars backstage, including Lola Vice and the newly crowned NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan. Red also emerged in the closing moments of the event as she celebrated the successful NXT Championship title defense of Trick Willians.
