Vince McMahon is a figure of extensive debate in the history of professional wrestling, surrounded by numerous narratives that often prompt fans to question his decisions. Despite recent trafficking allegations against him, Sgt Slaughter’s opinion of McMahon remains unwavering.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former employee of WWE, initiated legal proceedings against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon. The lawsuit accuses McMahon of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking, alleging that he exploited his power and position to manipulate Grant into engaging in uncomfortable acts and situations. The incidents mentioned in the lawsuit occurred between March 2019, when they first met, and March 2022.
Sgt. Slaughter recently shared his thoughts on his former boss during an interview on Pro Wrestling Bits. Slaughter reminisced about being hired by Vince McMahon Sr. and discussed his experience working under Vince McMahon Jr.
The WWE Hall of Famer emphasized that his opinion of Vince McMahon remains unchanged, even in light of the serious allegations made in the Janel Grant Lawsuit.
”No [my opinion has not changed about Vince McMahon]. I was hired by Vince McMahon Sr. If it wasn’t for Vince McMahon Sr. and fellows like Pat Patterson, Harley Race, Lord Alfred Hayes and Roddy Piper, I wouldn’t be sitting in front of you today. They all were part of what I became and the character that I created. Vince [Jr.] was always there to let you go full bore. When he asked me to be the Iraqi Sympathizer, I said ‘I’ll do it,’ but I want to be able to go all the way with it. If I’m going to do what you asked, I want you to let me do it all the way, I don’t want to do it halfway.’ [Vince McMahon] said ‘Sarge, you take care of that character, you take it as far as you can, and if you go too far, I’ll pull you back.”
Female WWE performers are now facing inquiries from various news reporters following Vince McMahon’s scandal. Furthermore, McMahon’s future with WWE is in limbo due to the ongoing trafficking lawsuit, and there is no definitive indication of his return. The final resolution for the former Chairman of WWE is yet to be determined.
