IPL 2024 commenced on Friday, March 22. Yesterday, we saw Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens and emerge victorious. This resulted in SRK taking an entire round of the field waving to those in attendance and thanking them for their support. Post the match, former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was seen showering praise upon Khan and lauding not only his remarkable success but also his humility.

Navjot Singh Sidhu on Shah Rukh Khan
In the video, Navjot Singh Sidhu says in Hindi, “I once met him at Model School ground. At that time, he was doing (TV serials) Circus and Fauji. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said, ‘I want to go to Bollywood’. I enquired how he planned to do so without having a relative, and with the competition there, how did he plan to be successful?”
Revealing Shah Rukh Khan’s answer, the former The Kapil Sharma Show member said, “He replied, ‘May I say something? I don’t compete with anyone; I compete with myself’. I didn’t forget this incident till today. Six months later, Baazigar released and then his other films. Yeh aadmi jitna successful hai, tuna hi humble hai (This man is as humble as he is successful)”

SRK began his acting career by playing a soldier in the 1988 Doordarshan series Fauji. He then featured in several more shows including Circus, Doosra Keval, Idiot and more. He then ventured into Bollywood in 1992 with a supporting role in Deewana. The following year, Khan received much love and recognition got his villainous roles in the Baazigar and Darr. The ‘King of Romance,’ has also starred in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Devdas, Main Hoon Na, Chak De! India, My Name Is Khan, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, Swades and more.
In recent years, Shah Rukh Khan has played the lead role in films like Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. He also essayed pivotal characters in Brahmastra: Part One and Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.
