Shah Rukh Khan and his family will temporarily move out of their iconic bungalow, Mannat, as it undergoes major renovations and expansion. The process is expected to take nearly two years, so the family has reportedly rented luxurious duplex apartments in Pali Hill, Mumbai, for ₹8.67 crore over three years.

Before starting the renovation, Shah Rukh obtained approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), as Mannat falls under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ).

However, social activist Santosh Daundkar has raised objections, claiming that Shah Rukh had previously violated CRZ rules. He has taken the matter to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), questioning the legality of the clearance granted for adding two more floors to the existing six-storey bungalow.

According to Bar and Bench, the NGT has asked Daundkar to submit evidence within four weeks to support his claims that Shah Rukh or the MCZMA violated regulations. If he fails to do so, the appeal may be dismissed.

Daundkar alleges that Shah Rukh previously demolished two heritage structures without environmental clearance and constructed a six-storey building without permission. He also accused him of illegally extracting groundwater and minerals during underground construction. The next hearing is set for April 23.
