Shannen Doherty has shared a breakthrough in her battle with cancer that she’s described as a “miracle.”

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star, who has stage 4 breast cancer, said that results from a recent treatment have given her newfound hope for the future.

“I’m not gonna say what it is, I’m on a new cancer infusion, and after four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch, and I just kinda was like, ‘We’re gonna keep going with this and see,'” she told her radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi on Monday’s episode of her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast.

“And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier.”

Doherty, 52, said her body’s response to the new treatment has been a “miracle,” adding, “For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s keep going.'”

“That it’s actually breaking down that blood-brain barrier is actually a miracle of that drug, a miracle of maybe God intervening and saying, ‘I’m gonna give her a break,'” she shared.

“Sometimes you’re looking for miracles in all the wrong places, and they’re right in front of your face.”

Though she went into remission in 2017 following chemotherapy, the cancer returned as stage 4 in 2019.

Last year, the actress revealed that her cancer had metastasized, first spreading to her brain and then her bones.

Despite saying she doesn’t want to die, Doherty explained why death doesn’t scare her.

“I don’t want to die,” she told People at the time. “I think I would be afraid of death if I wasn’t a good person, but I am,” she said, adding, “I’m not afraid of dying, I just don’t want to die, like, ever.”

“I’m not done with living, I’m not done with loving, I’m not done with creating, I’m not done with, hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not done,” she added. “My greatest memory is yet to come.”

Doherty then claimed she found out her husband of over a decade, Kurt Iswarienko, was having an affair right before she underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor. He denied being unfaithful.

In 2021, Doherty told fans she was “fighting to stay alive.”
