As we head towards 2025.

Eddie Howe telling his Newcastle United players to share it around.

That is, the responsibility for scoring goals.

The recent signs are promising.

In these last four matches, seven different Newcastle United players have got on the scoresheet, scoring 14 goals in total.

To put that into context, only nine Newcastle United players have scored one or more goals this season in total.

Also, Newcastle United have scored 19 goals in their last six matches, compared to 18 goals in their opening 16 games (all stats are for all competitions).

Last (2023/24) season, United scored 102 goals in total (all competitions), with 20 different NUFC goalscorers.

We have some catching up to do but the recent signs/matches have been very positive, averaging better than three goals per game these past half dozen matches.

Hopefully that recent 3+ scoring goals average continuing at Old Trafford tonight…

Eddie Howe talking ahead of United playing Man U, with goals on his mind:

“When we play at our best, we share the goals around.

“I don’t think there’s ever been one consistent source, we don’t want there to be, because then it’s easier to stop.

“It is about the team functioning and enabling everyone to be creative and productive.

“We are seeing different players contribute in different games and that pleases me.

“Of course, Alexander Isak being our number nine, will want to score.

“But I want goals from a huge range of different players.

“We are seeing that and that’s great for us.

“I think we have to be ourselves in this game [against Man U] and this is the attitude wherever we go.

“We have to know which Newcastle is going to turn up.

“We have seen that in recent weeks and it has been a real positive for us.”
