Gareth Southgate will name a 30-man provisional England squad at 2pm this afternoon.

The Three Lions have two warm-up friendlies scheduled for the beginning of June, after which the manager will need to submit his final 26-man selection that’ll be making the trip to Germany.

England’s first group-stage fixture comes two days after the tournament kicks off when they take on Serbia on June 16.

In terms of the Manchester United players expected to be called up, reports suggest that Luke Shaw will be included despite missing the majority of the season through frequent, long-term injury woes.

Kobbie Mainoo has been tipped to receive his second consecutive inclusion just two months on from making his senior debut for his nation.

Rashford misses out

On the other hand, it’s a huge blow for Marcus Rashford, who has been omitted from Southgate’s team, as confirmed by David Ornstein. He has endured a troublesome campaign, which has seen him find the back of the net only eight times in his 42 appearances across all competitions.

England are blessed with an abundance of world-class attacking depth, and players will have been well aware that they need to be at the top of their game to ensure they’re in with a shout of featuring at the major tournament.

We’re waiting on confirmation of Mason Mount and Harry Maguire’s statuses after both Reds were sidelined for the end of the term.
