Sheamus gives credit where it’s due.
The Bar was one of the most popular teams in WWE. It was made up of Claudio Castagnoli (formerly known as Cesaro in WWE) and Sheamus.
Recently, Sheamus opened up about one of the most iconic wins for the Bar against The New Day at Roadblock: End of the Line in 2016. The match came to an end when the Celtic Warrior ‘fake tagged’ Cesaro thus confusing Kofi Kingston. This allowed Sheamus to roll up Kingston and get the win for his team.
While speaking to Robbie Fox on his My Mom’s Basement podcast, Sheamus revealed that the idea for the fake tag was Cesaro’s. He also revealed that it was Claudio who reignited the passion for wrestling for him.
“That was Cesaro. That was 100% Claudio Castagnoli. That’s his mind. Still one of the greatest. And I was like, ‘Man you want my fat a** to jump on to Kofi?’ But it was unbelievable. It was just Claudio man, he just… Yeah he was… He’s unbelievable to work with. And he’s one of the reasons why… At that stage of my career, he just totally reinvigorated me. You know what I mean? Gave me my passion, brought my passion where it should be. But… Yeah that was unbelievable man. Because we were trying so hard to win those titles and obviously, we won them but the fake tag was an incredible finish. So creative. That’s Tony though you know. Big Dick Tony. That’s what everyone calls him by the way in the locker room,” Sheamus said.
