“I’m having a blast. I’m having, I feel like, a bit of a career resurgence. I wasn’t really expecting it to go as well as it is. I’m constantly being surprised. First of all, by the fans of AEW because with all the, to me, unnecessary tribalism in professional wrestling, I never knew how I was going to be viewed, especially with most of my history being WWE.” Shelton Benjamin said.
“Sometimes some people just don’t like that. There are some people that, I’m pretty sure, are never going to like me no matter what I do, and they are always going to see that guy who, in my opinion, WWE misused a lot.”
“Everybody I’ve worked with has been so incredibly cooperative, amazing, helpful. The talent speaks for itself. So, I’m really enjoying my time here right now,” added Shelton Benjamin
Shelton Benjamin: Hurt Syndicate Reaction Is Overwhelming
peaking with Kenny McIntosh for Inside The Ropes, Shelton Benjamin spoke about the Hurt Business in AEW.
He talked about how to group always wanted to get back together after breaking up in the WWE and that they were overwhelmed by the fans’ reactions in AEW.
“Well, we wanted to do this pretty much since the original band was disbanded in a galaxy far, far away. So it’s always been something that we felt like fans never really got to experience. We never really got to experience a live crowd together and that’s always been something we wanted to do. We want the opportunity to see what we really could have done. Like I said, it’s always been something we all wanted to do.”
“The reaction has been overwhelming. I’ve said before, even I was a little concerned about how fans would take to us. But for the most part, I felt nothing but love from the fans. They’ve really taken to the group and really embraced us and we’re going to give them everything that we can possibly [give], leave 100% out there in the ring with our performances, our verbiage, with everything because we’re all really appreciative.” Shelton Benjamin added.
