Shelton Benjamin has spent nearly two decades of his career in WWE, and many believe it’s only a matter of time before he takes his place among the greats in the WWE Hall of Fame. Speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, Benjamin addressed the possibility of a Hall of Fame induction, expressing both his hope and gratitude for the opportunity.
“It would be a nice touch to the end of a long career. Will it happen? I’d like to think I made a big enough contribution to the business that I would go in.”
Benjamin shared that Shawn Michaels had previously told him they’d hold a spot for him, which only reinforces his optimism about eventually earning the honor. However, Benjamin also emphasized that regardless of which company he’s currently working for, the Hall of Fame remains a personal dream.
Keeping Connections With WWE Despite AEW Move
Though now signed with AEW, Benjamin made it clear that his move does not signify animosity toward WWE, stating:
“I’m a bit of a WWE product. I was discovered by them, trained by them, and most people know me from there.”
His comment highlights the deep connection he maintains with WWE, even as he continues his wrestling journey in AEW.
Who Would Induct Shelton Benjamin?
When asked who he would want to induct him, Benjamin quickly named Kurt Angle as his top choice.
“He helped introduce me to the world and catapulted me into the public eye. That would be my first choice.”
He also mentioned other potential inductors, including MVP, Arn Anderson, and Gerald Brisco, all of whom played crucial roles in his career.
While it remains to be seen when or if Benjamin will receive his Hall of Fame induction, his contributions to WWE are undeniable. Now in AEW, he continues to build on his already impressive legacy, demonstrating that his career is far from over.
