Shia LaBeouf's Alleged Physical Violence Shown in New Documentary & He Explains Why He Supports Releasing the Film

Shia LaBeouf is standing by a documentary that depicts him allegedly initiating physical altercations against some of his acting students.

In 2018, the now 38-year-old actor started a free theater school at the Slauson Recreation Center in Los Angeles. Once formed, Shia then reportedly gave a student named Lewis O’Neil a camera, and told him to document everything that took place at the center.

Lewis then gathered over 800 hours of footage to create the project, titled Slauson Rec.

Scenes that made the cut of the documentary apparently contain multiple instances of Shia engaging physical fights, including one moment of him allegedly shoving a student named Zeke against a wall.

However, Shia has no qualms about the documentary being viewed by the public.

“I am aware of the doc and fully support the release of the film. While my teaching methods may be unconventional for some, I am proud of the incredible accomplishments that these kids achieved,” he told Vanity Fair in a recent statement.

Shia also reportedly told the outlet that he and his partner Mia Goth are fans of the project. The actor apparently has no further involvement in the documentary other than being depicted in the footage.

Meanwhile, Lewis provided insight regarding his relationship with Shia to Vanity Fair.

“It shows a lot that he is willing to have this be out in the world and not try to stop it. He had every reason and possibility to stop it…. He’s one of the most vulnerable artists I’ve ever seen,” Lewis said.

Lewis also gave his opinion on Shia‘s behavior when asked if he considered the actor’s actions to be abusive.

“I don’t disagree with that word. I don’t want to deny the fact that it was, but I think because that word is such a trigger word — people pop on that word so fast. But yeah, it was f–ked up. Hurt people hurt people, it’s very true — and he’s a very hurt person,” he said.

In 2023, Shia‘s former girlfriend FKA Twigs accused him of sexual battery and assault, which he has denied.
