Sika Anoa’i, one-half of the legendary Wild Samoans tag team passed away on Tuesday. The 2007 WWE Hall Of Fame inductee was 79 years old.
“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Former Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i,” Jahrus Anoa’i wrote on Instagram. “He passed away peacefully on June 25th. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark. His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched.”
Sika Anoa’i and his brother, Afa, had a legendary career together as The Wild Samoans tag team. They wrestled around the world and had a notable run in the WWF. There, they won the company’s tag team championship three times. In addition to their 2007 WWE Hall Of Fame induction, the Wild Samoans were voted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012.
Sika continued to train wrestlers at the Wild Samoan Training Center after his retirement. He was a member of the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family, which includes his son, Roman Reigns, The Rock, The Usos, and Rikishi. The Rock’s grandfather, Peter Maivia, was his uncle.
Sika and Afa most recently appeared on-air at WWE Hell in a Cell in 2020 and celebrated Roman Reigns’ win over Jey Uso, an honorary sign of Reigns’ “The Head of the Table” designation.
