Simon Jordan has warned West Ham fans that they don’t know how good they’ve got it with David Moyes.

Moyes, who won the Europa Conference League with the Hammers last season, is in the midst of a dire run of form. They're winless in seven were thumped 6-0 at home to Arsenal last time out.

That result has seen a number of supporters turn on the Scot, despite his success in bringing them their first major European trophy last season.

Summing up frustrations at the London Stadium, talkSPORT caller Steph said: “Things have got to change. We have a defensive manager yet we’ve just shipped six goals, three to United and five to Fulham, as well as getting knocked out of the FA Cup to Bristol City.

“The main problem is our defensive pairing of [Nayef] Aguerd and [Kurt] Zouma, especially Zouma who’s not fit for purpose and thank God he was hooked otherwise it could have been nine [9-0].

“If you’re shipping goals your defence is a problem, and that’s down to Moyes who picks the team, he can’t always blame the players.”

Prompting a response from former Crystal Palace owner turned talkSPORT host Jordan, she continued: “Simon, in business, if you have something like Marks & Spencer or John Lewis, do they stand up at a shareholders meeting and say, ‘sorry our results are so poor this financial year but three years ago we made a profit’?

“No. It doesn't happen in business and shouldn’t happen in football but you can’t keep trading on the past.”

Jordan replied: “You can give context though to David Moyes and look back and say we beat Arsenal and Man United 2-0, he can give you context about Europe and the league position, what you’re doing is looking at the last month, and the outcomes you’ve got whether or not you like the way you play, is unarguable.

“If you look at the next four games, and you might have an argument if you can’t get a result against [Nottingham] Forest, Brentford, Everton and Burnley, then your noise will get significantly louder.”

Caller Steph added: “You can expect more of the same unless the board take a look at what’s happening, we are going to slide down the table and it will be mid-table mediocrity, we’ll come up against someone we’re not expecting in Europe and get knocked out.

“It’s time to move on and thank him for what he’s done, he’s transformed the team but we have got a better calibre of player than we did before.

Joe Cole is stunned by fans who criticise the job David Moyes has done and what he has achieved at West Ham United

“How does [technical director] Tim [Steidten] feel attracting European talent like [Mohammed] Kudus to West Ham, he sold him a project and then Kudus has to play in a 6-0 defeat, the lad must be wondering what the hell he’s done.”

Echoing his fellow supporter’s comments, caller Reece also wants Moyes out, but he then dragged Jordan down into the trenches in spectacular fashion.

“I was very much Moyes in until the end of the year,” he said. “Since beating Arsenal 2-0 we’ve been absolutely atrocious. Should one player, [Lucas] Paqueta, be missing make such a drastic change to the defence? I think Moyes has been getting away with it.”

Jordan replied: “You’re not exactly the biggest team in the Premier League, you’ve got teams like Chelsea that are beneath you, so what are you on about?”

“We’re not an irrelevance in the league like Palace either,” Reece came back.

Jordan then said: “You’re not exactly a big noise either, the only big noise I hear from West Ham is from you lot complaining about what you haven’t got, and you haven’t got is bugger all over the past 40 years.”

Finishing his argument, Reece said: “The only people pushing this narrative are people that don’t watch us, we s***house games, we grind it out and rely on Paqueta for a moment of magic, and now he’s not there we’re getting shown up.”

And Jordan finished: “Well let’s hope you West Ham fans get exactly what you deserve.”

Hammers fans could well get what they want, as talkSPORT understands talks over a contract extension for Moyes have stalled due to the team’s poor form.
