Simon Rex revealed that he’s been living in a “shipping container” home in Southern California’s Joshua Tree National Park.

The “Scary Movie 3” actor explained that he has a place in Los Angeles, as well as his “450-square-foot room” in San Bernardino County, Calif.

“I go to Joshua Tree when I get annoyed in LA, and then when I get bored out there, I come back, and I go back and forth,” he explained on Tuesday’s episode of the “Family Trips” podcast with Seth and Josh Meyers.

Rex, 50, described the smaller property as “a double shipping container” with many of the walls as windows “that are made into one big room and the front of it is all glass.”

“It’s basically like a box in the middle of [nowhere]. It’s off-grid, meaning that there is no infrastructure,” he shared, while later adding, “It’s a tiny box, all glass on one side.”

The “Red Rocket” actor clarified that the home sits on five acres of land, but it feels more “like 50 acres with no one around as far as you could see.”

Rex even has a small all-glass guest house to the side of his main property. Simon Rex/Instagram The “Red Rocket” actor added that he has “no infrastructure” within the home. Family Trips/YouTube

Rex added that he uses a “water well” and a “septic tank” for his water needs, and he relies on solar power and wifi to stay somewhat connected to the outside world.

“You learn that you don’t need much, and there’s something sort of zen about that and simplifying everything and not having a lot of clutter, because you don’t need all the stuff,” he shared.

The “What I Like About You” actor gushed that he feels “alive” in the property and the entire experience has been “life-changing.”

“It’s the best thing I could’ve got for myself,” he raved.

Rex has previously shared some photos of the unique property –– including a photo from inside that shows a TV mounted to a wall, a fireplace and a disco ball hanging from the ceiling.

When he’s not staying in his shipping container or his LA home, he travels around California and the western states in a 2001 Volkswagen Winnebago RV.
