EXCLUSIVE: Simone Kessell (Yellowjackets) is set as a series regular opposite Jason Clarke in The Last Frontier, Apple TV+’s upcoming drama series from Jon Bokenkamp (The Blacklist) and Richard D’Ovidio (The Call). The series received a 10-episode series order in February 2023.
Starring Clarke as US Marshal Frank Remnick, The Last Frontier follows Frank, the lone Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska, whose jurisdiction is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with international political implications.
Kessell will play Sarah, Frank’s wife.
Haley Bennett and Dominic Cooper also star.
The series is produced by Apple Studios. Sam Hargrave (Extraction) directs the pilot and serve as executive producer alongside Bokenkamp, D’Ovidio and Clarke.
Kessell, a Māori actress from New Zealand, is best known for her portrayal of Lottie in Emmy-nominated Showtime series Yellowjackets, as well as her work on Obi-Wan Kenobi. She’s repped by Buchwald, Goodman Genow Schenkman, and 42West.
