Manchester United fans are hoping for a busy summer following the arrival of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
While it remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will keep his job as manager under the new regime, we know to expect a squad makeover with serious players to be sold in the coming months.
United are planning to sell players to fund their signings one respected reporter/broadcaster Ben Jacobs claims Ineos Sports group have already “approved” one signing so far.
When asked to provide an update on United’s reportedly interest in Wolves forward Pedro Neto, Jacobs revealed that Olise is likely to take priority.
“Nothing is advanced with Manchester United and Pedro Neto,” Jacobs told Give Me Sport. “The only ‘approved’ target so far, regarding specific names rather than positions, is Michael Olise.
“With Neto, you’re looking at £65 million, maybe even closer to £70m. That’s not within Manchester United’s capabilities if they pursue Olise, given that they also need to focus on a striker and a centre-back.”
Olise has been attracting interest from top teams for two years, but injury problems hindered his progression. It remains to be seen if he will return in time for the end of the season after sustaining a fresh hamstring injury.
