Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes improving recruitment is a key priority at Manchester United.
The club’s co-owner is ready to sanction a significant transfer budget this summer with Manchester United’s financial restrictions.
On top of that, United are preparing for a number of player sales.
According to the Daily Mail, Ratcliffe has identified improving recruitment as his key priority after completing his £1.2billion investment. This means a busy summer can be expected at Old Trafford but there is good news that United are no longer in danger of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules [PSR].
Under PSR rules Premier League clubs are only permitted losses of £105million over a three-year period.
United were restricted in the January transfer window due to PSR limitations and Erik ten Hag could have done with one or two additions. The manager is now without a recognised left-back in the squad after Luke Shaw’s latest injury blow.
The Reds can increase their PSR clearance further by raising cash for signings through player sales and cutting wages. Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford when his deal expires at the end of the season, while Raphael Varane could follow him out the door.
Another player that could be sold is Jadon Sancho and he’s earning an astronomical salary at the club. The winger is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
