Having acquired Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich over the summer, Manchester United may be looking to use their ties to do business again in 2025.

That’s according to Sky Germany, which claims that the Red Devils have begun targeting Leon Goretzka, 29, Alphonso Davies, 23, and Leroy Sane, 28.

Both Davies and Sane are out of contract at the Allianz in June 2025. However, the former looks almost nailed on to be joining Real Madrid, as the reigning European champions have been circling the starlet for well over a year now.

United are said to have enquired about Goretzka’s availability in the last transfer window – albeit to no avail, given that he kickstarted the 2024/2025 campaign in Munich. He has had to settle for a significantly reduced role under Vincent Kompany, though, making only one one-minute cameo in Bayern’s opening six matches of the Bundesliga term.

Viewed as a suitable successor to the declining Casemiro, the German international is reportedly against the idea of leaving the Bavarian outfit, which is astounding given how little he’s expected to feature over the course of the nine-month season.

Elsewhere, it remains to be seen if Sane, a two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, would tarnish his reputation with the Etihad faithful by joining the 20-time champions across the city. That’s not to say he wouldn’t strengthen United’s attack ten-fold, nonetheless.

All in all, from a realistic perspective, you’d struggle to see how any deal could come to fruition. The most likely is perhaps Goretzka, and that’s not a signing that would particularly excite supporters.

Having said that, relying on ageing duo Christian Eriksen and Casemiro to play backup to Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo, the latter of which is in dire need of some rest before he burns out, doesn’t exactly fill fans with optimism about the months ahead.
