Manchester United have reportedly agreed to lower their asking price for Alejandro Garnacho amidst negotiations with Napoli.

The Argentine is considered one of the most promising young wingers in the world, but he’s been enduring a rough patch, especially following the departure of Erik ten Hag and the arrival of Ruben Amorim who has been dropping him from the starting lineup more often than not.

Moreover, the 20-year-old has yet to find an agreement with the management over a long-term contract, leaving him one of the lowest earners on the wage bill. Therefore, the young man’s future at the club remains uncertain, which sparked the interest of several suitors.

In recent days, some reports linked the player with a sensational move to Chelsea, as his agent fueled the speculations with an appearance at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. Nevertheless, Napoli remains his most realistic destination if he were to leave Old Trafford.

The Serie A giants have recently sold their top star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain for €75 million, so they’re now looking to reallocate this sum on the market, and the first order of business is to find a competent replacement for the Georgian winger.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli consider Garnacho as their ideal profile for the role, and the two clubs held a meeting on Tuesday. The transfer market insider reveals that the Red Devils have agreed to lower their demands from €75 million to a package worth €65 million (with a fixed fee between €55m and €60m).

Di Marzio adds that the Partenopei are currently stuck at €50-55 million, but he believes that the two parties could reach a compromise at around €60 million.

All in all, the Italian journalist depicts the meeting as a positive affair, allowing the two clubs to close the gap, although a final agreement has yet to be defined.
