According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT, Michael Edwards will be appointed CEO of football by Liverpool, and Richard Hughes, the Bournemouth chief, will join him at Anfield.
The Reds will have been under pressure to make decisions quickly in order to fill many positions on their backroom staff since they have another important one to make.
The Merseyside club will want the appropriate personnel in place to find and hire the best candidate after Jurgen Klopp stated in January that he would be departing at the end of the season.
Liverpool are looking for a new manager
Numerous managers are being linked to the soon-to-be empty post at Anfield, and given that the backroom drama is finally nearing an end, it wouldn’t be shocking if their efforts to hire a new coach intensify over the next few weeks.
Hughes and Edwards will probably have a significant influence over the selection of the next manager.
Sheth, a correspondent for Sky Sports, has hinted that Hughes’ hiring is about to happen. He mentioned this in an interview with GIVEMESPORT on Wednesday afternoon.
“The first appointment which will be imminent will be Richard Hughes. We know that he’s left Bournemouth and he will then come in as the sporting director, and then that is when the crucial appointment will have to be made. When we talk about Manchester United, that they’ve got to hit the jackpot with every single transfer, Liverpool have effectively done that in the past few years and hence why they’ve been really successful. Because they’ve had a team and a recruitment team in place for the most part with Michael Edwards involved, until he left, alongside Jurgen Klopp and the recruitment team. Now you’ve got a situation where Klopp is leaving.”
The new Liverpool chiefs have big decisions to make
The new Liverpool backroom team has more on their plate than just finding a new manager.
Hughes and Edwards will need to persuade the important trio—Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold—to sign on the dotted line and prolong their time at Anfield since their contracts expire next summer.
Big changes are expected at Anfield in the summer with lots of incomings and outgoings expected.
