The latest promo for Jack Black‘s Saturday Night Live hosting stint sees the actor and Tenacious D frontman get into it with one of this weekend’s musical guests, Sir Elton John.
After the host introduces John in a very 007 way, Sir Elton refers to the actor as simply, “Black,” which seems to peeve the Minecraft Movie star. He starts yelling. John starts singing (sort of) and the scene descends into chaos.
You can watch it below.
Black is hosting for the fourth time, and his April 5 episode coincides with his appearance in the A Minecraft Movie, which hits theaters the day before. He will be joined by John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests. John has actually only been on SNL only twice, first as musical guest in 1982 and then as host and musical guest in 2011. He has, however, been impersonated a lot on the show. Carlile, meanwhile, has performed twice as a musical guest in 2021 and 2022. Their joint appearance comes as the recently Oscar-nominated duo‘s album Who Believes in Angels? comes out tomorrow.
Jon Hamm, who appeared on the SNL50 show, will host on April 12 with Lizzo as musical guest.
