In a village in Delta state, the late Chief Kampala died suddenly in the middle of 2024 after falling ill. He left behind a wife and six children, only one of whom had graduated before his untimely death.
The late Chief’s wife had been struggling to care for her children without support from her late husband’s brothers. One of the brothers even tried to take advantage of her by wanting to sleep with her, but she refused. This refusal angered the brother, who then demanded all the property left behind by his late brother.
The wife, wanting to secure her children’s future, asked the brother about his plans for the children if they were to get married. The brother had no satisfactory answer, leading to tension between them. Since then, the wife has faced numerous challenges, including her business collapsing. Meanwhile, the late husband’s brother persisted in trying to claim all the family’s assets.
