Erica Banks recently shared her thoughts on body positivity, and social media is weighing in on her comments.
Shade Room Social Editor Jade Ashley chopped it up with Erica at the BET Media House for the BET Awards on June 30.
When asked to give the Roomies advice on body positivity, Erica stated, “Don’t waste your whole life looking at comments.” The 25-year-old admitted that at the beginning of her career, she focused on people’s opinions of her on social media, but she has since learned to block out the noise. Erica stated that she “was never gonna see these people” and learned “not to allow this app to upset [her] and hurt [her] feelings.”
“And as far as body positivity. Do you, girl. Ya know, I’m doing me,” she said, seemingly referring to her Brazilian butt lift. Hot New Hip Hop reports Banks underwent a BBL because she didn’t care for the gym. She faced criticism earlier this month after reportedly undergoing a second procedure to further enhance her peach.

“Coming from the same woman who said women with a certain body type couldn’t sit with her. Right message, but wrong messenger,” @astoldbybrittanyd added.

“She was the same woman who said if you don’t have a BBL she won’t hang with you.. Then doubled back and got 2! I don’t like when women with surgery speak of body positivity at all. a total joke,” @sheniahlarae stated.

Back in September 2022, Erica faced backlash after sharing the physical characteristics her friends must have if they joined her at a party. The video was seemingly leaked from her close friends of her having the discussion. She explained, “If she don’t look how I want her to look physically, I don’t want her to come.” Banks added, “…if she ain’t thick enough, nope. Hair not did good enough? Nope. Can’t dress? Nope. Skinny? Nope.”
