While the rest of the country was watching NFL playoff football, Sofia Vergara was a streaming sensation with her new Netflix limited series, Griselda. It was the new leader of the Nielsen streaming ratings for the week of Jan. 22-28 by a wide margin.
The series, which bowed Jan. 25, is a far cry from Vergara’s previous comedy turn in Modern Family. She now plays ambitious Colombian businesswomen Griselda Blanco, who creates one of the most profitable drug cartels in history.
Griselda’s six episodes have scored 1,590 minutes, easily topping the Disney+ animated series Bluey, the leader of the last cycle, which was second with 1,251 minutes streamed for its 151 episodes.
Among streaming originals, Reacher was still hanging on in the No 2 position, scoring 741 minutes for its 16 Prime episodes. A pair of 2024 debuts, American Nightmare (676 minutes) and Fool Me Once (669 minutes) were right behind.
In the acquired category, Grey’s Anatomy, Young Sheldon and This Is Us were the top shows, nestled into the overall 3-5 slot on the combined chart of originals and acquired streamed programs.
