A Moroccan side inspired by Sofyan Amrabat had to settle for a point against DR Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
Morocco took an early lead through Paris Saint Germain’s Achraf Hakimi, but their opponents equalised with less than 15 minutes remaining on the clock.
Going into the last match of the group stages – against Zambia – Morocco need a draw or better to reach the knockout phase of the tournament.
Amrabat, who is currently on loan at Manchester United from Fiorentina, played the entirety of the match on Sunday.
Morocco have four points at the top of Group F and look set to book their place in the next round, having won their opening match against Tanzania last Wednesday.
United also have first choice goalkeeper Andre Onana at AFCON representing Cameroon, although they’ve yet to win a match in the group stage despite still being in the hunt for progression to the knockouts.
