Some inside Donald Trump, RFK Jr.’s camps would be thrilled if ‘hated’ Cheryl Hines dumps the scion over sexting scandal and he heads to DC

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sexting scandal is embarrassing for both the political scion and the New York Magazine journalist with whom he allegedly shared steamy messages.

But we’re told that there are some people who are thrilled that the supposed fling was exposed — because they hope it’ll end his marriage to the “hated” Cheryl Hines.

Media newsletter Status revealed last week that political reporter Olivia Nuzzi had been suspended from the storied magazine after editors learned that she’d had a personal relationship with RFK Jr.

(The pol claimed that he’d met her only once while she was working on a story about him).

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Hines, a longtime Democrat who has been married to Kennedy since 2014, has since been spotted without her wedding ring.

Sources tell Page Six that there are people in both RFK Jr.’s inner circle and that of Donald Trump — who Kennedy endorsed in August after dropping out of the White House race — “hate Cheryl” and are hoping that the Nuzzi drama gets her out of the picture.

“[Hines] is a diehard liberal and is against [Kennedy’s] support for Trump,” an insider told us.

Our source says that after Kennedy’s endorsement, “there’s a likelihood he’ll work in the Trump administration if [Trump] wins” — which could be awkward with an avowed Trump-hater on his arm.

“RFK Jr. would have to move to DC and they don’t want [Cheryl] around,” said the source.

Hines aversion to Trump is well-documented.

After the endorsement Kennedy told TMZ that Hines is not a fan of the former president.

“This is really difficult issue for Cheryl,” he said. “This is the opposite of what she would want to do. She went along with it because she loves me and she wanted to be supportive of me, but it was not something that she ever encouraged. I would say, her trepidation about this and her discomfort with this, were the dominant feelings.”

Kennedy, 70, and Hines, 59, were wed at his famed family’s compound in Hyannis Port in 2014.

Hines is Kennedy’s third wife.

Nuzzi has been placed on leave from New York magazine. The relationship was reportedly not physical though she allegedly sent “demure” nudes to the one-time presidential candidate.

Nuzzi, 31, got engaged to fellow political reporter Ryan Lizza in September 2022, but they have recently split.

Hines was spotted without her wedding ring at a fashion party in Milan, Italy, on Friday.

A source previously told The Post, “I don’t imagine her putting up with this. She has a backbone.”

The insider added, “She’s not a little housewife at home. She is successful financially independent on her own.”

Another source also claimed to The Post that the “entire Kennedy family has written Robert off. So his allure is totally gone.”

Hines was supportive of Kennedy’s campaign, but caught heat in the past for his views.

During the COVID-19 pandemic he made a comparison between vaccine mandates and the life of Anne Frank, the teen diarist who died during the Holocaust after hiding in an attic for two years.

“My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own. While we love each other, we differ on many current issues,” Hines said, calling his statement regarding Anne Frank reprehensible.
