Bruno Guimaraes wears his heart on his sleeve.
Never afraid to show his emotions, the Newcastle United talisman was arguably close to his very best on Saturday, certainly in the circumstances.
Named as Newcastle United captain for the very first time in a competitive match, Bruno Guimaraes determined to make it a winning one.
Even going down to 10 men so early and having to play 73 of the total 101 minutes with that disadvantage, wasn’t going to stop the NUFC captain.
Sometimes giving 100% for Newcastle United isn’t enough,, Bruno Guimaraes saying those who stayed on the pitch all gave 110% for the black and white cause to deliver that victory against the odds on Saturday.
Bruno Guimaraes reflecting on Newcastle 1 Southampton 0:
“I was very, very tired, but for me, there are many, many ways to win.
“We won the hard way.
“Everyone gave 110% because 100% wouldn’t have been enough.
Everyone worked so hard, me, Longy (Sean Longstaff), the back four, Joelinton was everywhere.
“I am very happy.
“We have to keep the same mentality for the rest of the Premier League season.”
“You know how emotional I am and how badly I fight for the team, for my fellow players.
“I love to be here and so for me the message is always ‘give everything’.
“We needed our fans, [even] celebrate tackles, bring the fans behind you like they did.”
