Soneium, a newly introduced Ethereum layer 2 network backed by Sony’s blockchain subsidiary Sony Block Solutions Labs (Sony BSL), is partnering with Transak, a global leader in web3 payments infrastructure, Transak shared in a Thursday statement. The collaboration, leveraging Transak’s extensive network, aims to make Soneium more accessible to mainstream users.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Soneium on shaping the future of the Web3 ecosystem. By leveraging our robust payment infrastructure, we aim to make blockchain technology more accessible and inclusive for millions of users worldwide,” said Sami Start, Transak’s co-founder and CEO.

Soneium will focus on serving various web3 applications, including gaming and music. Transak’s ecosystem, with over 350 applications and 5.7 million users, will provide a regulated and compliant payment infrastructure for Soneium, the company noted.

“Transak’s dedicated solutions for multiple industries will empower developers to build innovative solutions, and we look forward to supporting the development of groundbreaking projects on Soneium,” said Sota Watanabe, director of Sony Block Solutions Lab.

Transak said the integration offers a user-friendly bridge between traditional payment methods and blockchain technology, allowing the purchase of digital assets through credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

This accessibility is expected to drive broader adoption and enhance user engagement across various industries, including gaming, where players can perform seamless transactions without lengthy verification processes, the team stated.

The partnership also extends to the entertainment industry, where blockchain’s transparency and security features will protect intellectual property rights and ensure fair compensation for creators.

The announcement comes after news earlier this week that Sony BSL, in partnership with Startale Labs, is set to launch Soneium. As reported by Crypto Briefing, Soneium’s initial phase will focus on attracting web3 users and developers.

Yesterday, Sony BSL announced the launch of the “Minato” public testnet for Soneium, allowing developers and users to explore the network before the mainnet launch. The entity also unveiled the “Spark” incubator program to onboard builders and bootstrap development.

Soneium has partnered with several leading web3 projects and infrastructure providers, including Astar Network, Circle, Chainlink, Alchemy, and The Graph.
