Daria Berenato, formerly known as Sonya Deville, is unsure about her future in wrestling.
Earlier in February, Mike Johnson of PWInsider and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that WWE informed Deville that they would not be renewing her contract. Deville subsequently entered free agency, and she said that she was negotiating a new deal with the company before she was informed of their decision.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Sonya Deville discussed her departure from the company. She was asked whether she was interested in continuing to wrestle.
“I don’t know what I want to do yet. That’s the truth. I have had conversations with people, but nothing decided yet,” she said. “Yeah [I’m interested], I love wrestling.
“But I love fighting MMA just the same. They’re in the same boat right now. I had three amateur fights before I got into WWE, and the only reason I stopped fighting MMA was because I got the opportunity for WWE, and I was broke and bartending in LA, and WWE offered me a salary to work out and train; so I was like, oh my god, yeah, I’d be stupid to say no, and it led me down this path that the last decade was. Fell in love with it. But my first love was fighting and acting out in LA, so that door’s not closed either.”
