Just this past weekend, Robert Lewandowski became the only player in La Liga this season to score and assist against Atletico Madrid when he starred in a 3-0 victory over Los Colchoneros.

But merely days after Barcelona’s convincing win over Atletico Madrid, Lewandowski is now being sensationally linked with a move to Civitas Metropolitano.

Barcelona ready to offload Lewandowski

This is the news coming from journalist Ruben Uria, who suggests that fans must be attentive to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this summer, over the future of Lewandowski.

Uria claims Barcelona are keen on offloading Lewandowski at the end of the season, as the club look for a massive squad overhaul this summer.

Lewandowski, who is one of the highest earners at Camp Nou, has failed to replicate last season’s performances this season and has often struggled with consistency.

This has led to Barcelona considering a potential sale for the Polish international, whose contract at Camp Nou does not expire until 2026.

Atletico attentive to the situation

Ruben Uria further claims that there is an operation to secure Lewandowski’s exit from Barcelona this summer.

Atletico Madrid, to that end, are attentive to the situation and might be open to making a move for the former Bayern Munich forward.

Atleti are no stranger when it comes to signing players from Barcelona. In the past few years, they have roped in players such as Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay.

It appears Lewandowski could become the next player to make the move to Madrid, providing the player himself is keen on joining Atletico Madrid.

For now, Lewandowski appears to be happy in Barcelona and even if he does consider an exit, he would perhaps prefer a move away from Europe, with Saudi Arabia or the MLS emerging as interesting alternatives.
