South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo play the CAN small final on Saturday. A meeting to follow live with commentary on our site, and to watch in streaming.

South Africa-DR Congo, pre-match

Before the grand final which will take place on Sunday between Ivory Coast and Nigeria (9 p.m.), it’s time for the small final played on Saturday between South Africa and DR Congo. The two unfortunate semi-finalists will therefore try to finish on a good note by securing third place in this African Cup of Nations, with perhaps a very slight advantage to the Bafana Bafanataken out on penalties by the Nigerians.

Although they have rarely faced each other in the 21st century, the two selections have always had difficulty deciding between them. Their most recent opposition was last September in a friendly, and the South Africans won 1-0. In all of their confrontations, however, it is South Africa which largely leads the way, with five wins, one draw and one defeat. But on a CAN, and with such a stake, the counters are necessarily reset to zero and everything seems possible between the Bafana Bafana and the Leopards.

The South Africa-Democratic Republic of Congo match kicks off this Saturday at 9 p.m. French time. The meeting will be followed live on our site, and will be broadcast in France on beIN Sports 1.

South Africa-DR Congo, the probable compositions:

South Africa: Williams – Mudau, Xulu, Mvala, Modiba – Sithole, Mokoena – Tau, Morena, Zwane – Makgopa

DR Congo: Mpasi – Kalulu, Mbemba, Batubinsika, Masuaku – Moutoussamy, Pickel – Elia, Bongonda, Wissa – Bakambu
