In addition to the NXPC token, NEXPACE has launched “Token Comics”, to help players understand the digital asset and blockchain technology in general.

Nexon Group, a leading South Korean video game publisher known for popular titles like MapleStory, Dungeon Fighter Online, and KartRider, has announced the launch of the NXPC token for its MapleStory Universe through its blockchain subsidiary NEXPACE.

In a Medium post published on August 27, NEXPACE announced that the digital asset is designed to enhance the in-game experience for players in the MapleStory Universe. The token will allow players and community members to help create in-game items, a role that was previously handled only by the game developers.

A New Chapter for MapleStory

The MapleStory Universe came into the crypto industry last year for blockchain gamers as a Web3 version of the classic MMORPG MapleStory. The game has had millions of players over the past two decades before being introduced to the Web3 sector.

The new version, MapleStory Universe, embraces blockchain technology by incorporating in-game items as tokenized NFTs (non-fungible tokens). This means players can own, trade, and even sell unique in-game assets, adding new value and interaction within the game.

Originally, the company planned to launch MapleStory Universe on Polygon, a layer-2 scaling solution built on Ethereum. However, in March this year, the firm had a change of heart and decided to shift to the Avalanche network instead.

To support the blockchain features, NEXPACE will use a dedicated Avalanche subnet to launch the first game under the MapleStory Universe umbrella, titled MapleStory N. The new game is expected to roll out for PC users by the end of this year.

Five months after moving to Avalanche, NEXPACE introduced the NXPC token to complement the blockchain game. However, the company has not yet confirmed whether the digital asset itself will also be deployed on the same protocol.

The company’s Executive Director Sunyoung Hwang said the introduction of the token into the market reflects the firm’s strong belief in their ability to transform the gaming experience for all players.

“The introduction of NXPC and blockchain technology into the 21-year legacy of MapleStory shows our confidence in their ability to revolutionize the gaming experience for everyone,” Hwang.

Limited Supply and Scarcity

The NXPC token will be used to redeem limited in-game IP items within the MapleStory Universe. These items will have a capped supply for each cycle, which will refresh regularly. NEXPACE explained that by controlling the supply, the company aims to keep the game economy stable while giving players flexibility.

Moreover, the scarcity of these items is expected to gradually increase their value, as well as the value of the NXPC token, creating a sustainable system for long-term growth.

In addition to the NXPC token, NEXPACE has launched “Token Comics”, to help players understand the digital asset and blockchain technology in general. According to the company, this educational comic series simplifies complex blockchain concepts, making them easier to grasp. The comics will serve as a bridge between traditional gaming culture and blockchain innovation, making digital ownership more accessible.h

Through this fun and engaging format, NEXPACE hopes to increase community involvement and raise awareness of its mission to transform online gaming with blockchain technology.
