2024 has much in store for football fans around the globe. All eyes will be on the European Championship in particular, with Germany set to host the prestigious tournament in the summer.

Other than Euro ’24, though, football fans can also look forward to the Olympics 2024, which will be hosted by Paris.

Although the Olympics historically has not been regarded as one of the main tournaments in world football, it is an exciting opportunity for many talented players to make their mark and win the coveted medals.

Spanish Olympic coach wants Pedri to join Olympics

To that end, Santi Denia, the Olympic coach for the Spanish football team wants Pedri to be a part of La Roja competing in Olympics 2024, reports Diario SPORT.

As football in the Olympics is more of a U-23 competition, Pedri is eligible to take part in the competition this coming summer.

Spain have high hopes for the Olympics this year, having earned the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. They were only beaten by Brazil in the final.

It must be noted that Pedri was a part of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics squad. Players such as Mikel Merino, Bryan Gil, Marco Asensio and even Barcelona star Eric Garcia were a part of the team as well.

However, getting top young players available for the Olympics this year is going to be tricky for coach Denia due to Euro 2024.

Olympics 2024 is slated to start just two weeks after the conclusion of Euro 2024. Pedri, who is more than likely to be a part of the Spain team at the Euros, might require a long break after the tournament.

Not to mention, the Spanish team will also have to seek an agreement with Barcelona, which, in today’s world, seems unlikely, given Pedri’s fitness woes in the past.
