Marc Casado has gained much attention lately, especially following his recent set of performances for Barcelona.
The young midfielder has established himself as a vital cog in Hansi Flick’s system, building a solid partnership alongside Pedri in the middle of the park.
Casado’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Barcelona reportedly rejecting the advances of Saudi Arabia.
Luis de la Fuente closely following Casado’s progress
Now, it appears Casado could be set for a maiden call-up to the Spanish national team as well, owing to his blistering run of form.
Indeed, a recent report from AS confirms that Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente is amazed by Casado’s form and is closely tracking his progress.
The Spanish coach is considering calling Casado up for Spain’s upcoming games against Denmark and Switzerland in November.
De la Fuente’s interest in Casado has peaked following the midfielder’s performances against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Espanyol, where he produced a brilliant assist for Raphinha.
If Casado can continue his momentum, there is a significant chance he could be called up for Spain this month.
The reigning Euro 2024 champions will resume their UEFA Nations League campaign on November 15, when they take on Denmark. It will be followed by a clash against Switzerland on November 18.
With Spain having already qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the UEFA Nations League, De la Fuente should have the liberty to bring in some new faces in the national team fold.
Casado, to that end, stands as one of the prime beneficiaries. However, it is imperative the youngster maintains his stellar form for Barcelona in the coming matches.
