Spanish giants now favourites to sign out of favour Man United ace

Until Man United decide what’s happening with Erik ten Hag, player matters will need to take a back seat.

Atletico Madrid are favourites for Man United’s Mason Greenwood

As is clarifying the status of players such as the out-of-favour Mason Greenwood, who spent last season on loan at Spanish side, Getafe.

Away from the spotlight and intrusiveness of the English media, the 22-year-old seemed to have enjoyed a spectacular season with the south Madrid-based side, and won the club’s Player of the Season award.

It’s believed that the player and his family would like to remain in the Spanish capital, though Getafe might not get things all their own way.

That’s because, according to HITC, Atletico Madrid have emerged as favourites to sign a player they have apparently been keeping tabs on for a while now.

A switch to the Rojiblancos would clearly work for Greenwood seeing as though he wouldn’t need to uproot from his current base.

There’s work to be done before any deal can be concluded of course, and there may even still be a possibility that Getafe can secure another loan for the winger.

In any event, it’s obvious that Greenwood’s future is away from Old Trafford, and if he can continue on an upward trajectory, despite the obvious historical issues in his personal life, an England recall may not be too far away either.
