WWE appears to be cutting costs again, with NXT star Brooks Jensen rumored to be the latest star to join the list of releases, as hinted by his recent social media activity. Jensen hinted at his departure with a tweet, sharing his booking information and suggesting the end of his association with WWE.
However, it turns out Brooks Jensen isn’t going anywhere just yet. When Fightful Select‘s Corey Brennan reached out to Brooks, he was advised to speak to higher-ups. Initial inquiries about Brooks’ behavior were met with uncertainty, even from other NXT talents.
On May 31st, during an NXT live event in Tampa, Brooks appeared ringside with a sign reading, “Bret would book this better.” After being confronted by security, he threw the sign and protested before being escorted out of the venue.
Further inquiries in NXT revealed that Brooks Jensen’s social media posts were part of a storyline. According to a source close to the creative process, Brooks has been present at several tapings in recent weeks, including sneaking into the crowd for a Level Up taping, as highlighted on social media. The story is expected to become part of NXT programming soon, drawing comparisons to Grayson Waller’s previous storyline with Shawn Michaels that made him a popular name.
Furthermore, one WWE talent expressed hope that Brooks’ attitude was storyline-related, noting his reputation as one of the most hardworking talents in the industry. Jensen’s latest match took place on March 12, 2024, at WWE NXT, where he competed for the NXT North American Title but was defeated by Oba Femi in 11 minutes and 34 seconds.
On the other hand, WWE has released several talents and executives this year. However, with reports suggesting that Brooks is not going anywhere and that all his recent antics were part of a storyline, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the talented NXT star.
