Brendan Gleeson has been tapped as a series regular opposite Nicolas Cage in Spider-Noir, the upcoming MGM+ and Prime Video live-action series based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir.

From executive producers/co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot and Sony Pictures TV, Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

Gleeson is believed to be playing a New York mob boss. In addition to Cage, he joins previously announced series regulars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun LI and Abraham Popoola.

Harry Bradbeer is set to direct, and executive produce the first two episodes of the series, which Uziel and Lightfoot developed and executive produce with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal. Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel, then globally on Prime Video.

This is Gleeson’s first role since his 2023 Oscar Nomination for Banshees of Inisherin. His casting was first reported by Variety.
