Dani Olmo made a significant impact during Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Espanyol

The attacking midfielder, who marked his return to the starting XI for the first time after suffering an injury in the game against Girona, proved that he had fully recovered, scoring two goals in the first half and marking a strong return to the starting eleven.

Speaking after the match, he emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum after an impressive week and a successful month of October.

He expressed that the goal was to keep accumulating points, stating that it was crucial to continue winning.

“It was important to keep winning, we’re coming off a very good week, but we had to keep going,” he began saying.

Olmo acknowledged that Espanyol would come out strongly but noted that Barcelona played exceptionally well, even if there were areas for improvement.

“Espanyol were going to come out with everything but we played a very good game, although we have things to improve. In the second half, we were more relaxed and we allowed them to get into the game.”

Olmo had previously left the field injured on September 15 and scored again after facing tough opponents like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

He shared his satisfaction about returning to the pitch, contributing to the team, and enjoying the game.

“I feel good, I wanted to come back, help the team, keep enjoying myself, playing and winning,” he said.

Having netted five goals so far this season, he expressed happiness with his performance, noting that he had confidence in achieving these numbers when he joined the club due to his familiarity with the environment and his teammates.

“It’s not bad (scoring five goals), I’m happy with how it turned out. I was confident I could have these numbers when I came here because I knew the club and the players.”

Barcelona’s attacking prowess has been impressive, reaching a remarkable total of 40 goals in La Liga. Olmo highlighted the strength of the team’s offensive capabilities, stating that they are a squad capable of scoring many goals.

“We are a team that has a lot of goals, both the scorers and the second line, we play directly and we create many chances.”

Thoughts on DANA

In closing, Olmo expressed his concern regarding the recent adverse weather conditions affecting Valencia, known as DANA.

He acknowledged that perhaps the match should not have taken place under such circumstances, but he wanted to extend his support to those impacted by the situation.

“Perhaps the game should not have been played, but from here we want to send all our encouragement and support to the people affected by the DANA. At the club we are going to help as much as we can,” he concluded.
